Samsung has started a new service in the United States to help Tesla electric car owners manage their car’s energy.
This service is part of a partnership between Samsung, a South Korean company, and Tesla, an American company, which they announced earlier this year at a big tech event called CES 2024.
Samsung’s AI-powered SmartThings Energy platform is now available for Tesla drivers in the U.S., allowing them to monitor and control the charging status of their EV batteries and the power generated by solar panels, according to the sources.
This new service, called ‘SmartThings Energy,’ allows Tesla drivers to check and control how much their car battery is charged and the energy their solar panels produce.
It works with the Tesla app’s Powerwall “Storm Watch” feature, which alerts users about extreme weather conditions like hurricanes and heavy snow through their Samsung TVs and mobile devices.

Here’s how to set up automation:
- Navigate to the SmartThings main screen and tap the “Life” icon.
- Navigate to the SmartThings Energy card.
- Tap the “Save” icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Follow the steps in Battery Backup Mode to set up your automation rules.
Samsung’s goal is to make it easier for people to manage their EV’s energy and stay safe during bad weather. In the future, Samsung plans to make this service available in other countries too.
